Description
A seated lion carved in the round on a compact square base. The head is cut with a curled mane, an open mouth and a heavy brow, and the whole piece is worked from a single block with the base left as an integral plinth.
The surface carries the marks of the chisel and a mottled grey-green tone. The gallery photographs show the piece from several angles, including one taken with a measuring rule in frame.
Dimensions: 8 cm wide × 12 cm high / 3.1 in wide × 4.7 in high, on a square base. Est. weight 1.2–1.5 kg (2.6–3.3 lb). Weight is an estimate from volume and stone density, not a scale reading.
