Description
A lion carved in the round shown mid-stride, one forepaw resting on a carved brocade ball. The figure and its round base are cut as one continuous piece. This is the male of a pair: the female, with a cub held against her body, is listed separately.
The mane is cut as deep scrollwork and the tool marks are left visible across the surface, which has a mottled grey-green tone. The gallery photographs show the piece from several angles.
Dimensions: 20 cm diameter × 19 cm high / 7.9 in diameter × 7.5 in high. Est. weight 7.5–9 kg (17–20 lb). Weight is an estimate from volume and stone density, not a scale reading.
